Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what Pet Evidence Project collects when you use our website, why we collect it, which service providers receive it, and the choices available to you.

Information We Collect

Our hosting and analytics services may process technical and usage information such as page paths, approximate location, browser and device type, referring source, interactions with site tools, and clicks to retailer websites. If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to include in your message.

Pet Screeners and Finders

Pet names, screener answers, scores, and result details are calculated in your browser and are not sent to Google Analytics or advertising platforms. We measure anonymous events such as starting or completing a screener, viewing finder results, applying filters, and following a retailer link. Finder search text and raw query strings are excluded from our analytics configuration.

Analytics, Tags, and Local Storage

We use Google Tag Manager to manage measurement tags and Google Analytics 4 to understand acquisition, content performance, tool usage, and commercial outcomes. Analytics storage is denied by default until you select “Allow analytics.” Your choice is saved in local storage on your device and can be changed through the “Privacy choices” control. Google tags may receive consent status and limited cookieless measurement signals when analytics storage is denied.

How We Use Information

We use information to operate and secure the site, understand which content and tools are useful, improve user experience, attribute traffic and marketing campaigns, measure retailer referrals, troubleshoot errors, and make commercial and editorial decisions. We do not use pet screener answers to make automated decisions about an owner or pet.

Service Providers and Disclosure

We use service providers for website hosting, content management, analytics, measurement, security, and affiliate attribution. These providers process information for the services they deliver and under their own contractual and legal obligations. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a business transaction. We do not sell pet names, contact messages, or screener answers.

Retention and Security

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, to satisfy legal obligations, and to resolve disputes. Analytics and service providers apply their configured retention periods. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your Choices and Privacy Rights

You can allow or decline analytics and change that selection at any time through the “Privacy choices” control. Browser controls may also remove local storage or block cookies. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or information about certain personal data. Contact us to submit a request; we may need to verify it before responding.

Children’s Privacy

The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it when appropriate.

Changes and Contact

We may update this Privacy Policy as our services, vendors, and legal obligations change. The updated date will appear on this page. Questions or privacy requests may be sent to contact@petevidenceproject.com .
